In earthquake-resistance protection zone, especially in the buildings of high earthquake intensity regions, earthquake's action has been the main role to structure. It was important to design reasonable structure to meet the needs of bearing capacity and stiffness under frequently occurred earthquakes and energy-dissipation capacity and ductility under rare, extreme earthquakes. These needs bring high standards for lateral resisting system.Based on the theoretical analyses of the distortion characteristic of steel shear wall with slits, this article introduced the component of it's initial lateral stiffness. Then the formula of it's initial lateral stiffness and how to get the formula is described. Considering the flaw to the finally reduction formula, by the theoretical analysis, a coefficient reflecting the influence of the slit width is gained. In addition, the reducing of lateral stiffness to steel shear wall with slits after some of the wall plate entering plastic is discussed. By finite element analysis to wall plate with four side fixed, the influence of the slit parameter to it's initial lateral stiffness.In the supporting capacity aspect, according to the steel structure stable theory, this article has analyzed the different forms of the steel shear wall with slit's ultimate state. Then the two form of ultimate states, out-of-plane stability and ultimate shear-carrying capacity, were separately discussed. Through the finite element analysis to wall plate with four side fixed , this article had pointed out the influence of the vertical load, the slit parameter and so on, to the elastic buckling strength of the steel shear wall with slit, and proposed the tentative plan that enhances the work efficiency of the steel shear wall with slit.Finally, this article introduced the formula of the ultimate shear-carrying capacity ofsteel shear wall with slit, in the situation that supposes the wall dose not buckling, then got the revision to its insufficiency.
