The current researches and application of structural transfer floors and reinforced concrete short beams are introduced. The test theoretical analyses of the shear properties of R.C. short beams in the transfer floor are presented in this paper. The main contents and results are as follows:(1) On the basis of others, the softened combined truss models are presented to analyse the shear capacity of R.C. short beams subjected to concentrated load. The equilibrium, compatibility conditions and the softened stress-strain relation of the main strut are considered. The theoretical predictions are in good agreement with the test results, and the models can show rationally the effects of shear span-to-depth radio, longitudinal reinforcement ratio, horizontal web reinforcement ratio, stirrup ratio, concrete strength and load (support) plate size on shear capacity. On the basis of theoretical analysis and statistical regression, the practicable formulas are provided to calculate the shear strength of R.C. short beams. Moreover, some construction requirements of shear capacity of R.C. short beams are given.(2) According to others test results, the characteristic of the tested load-deflection curve of R.C. short beams with simple supports and continuous supports is analysed. The effects of shear and inclined cracks on the deflection are discussed. The calculating formulas of shear effect and inclined cracks are given, and the calculating results are consistent with the test results.(3) On the basis of the experimental research and theoretical analysis, combining some references and engineering experience, some suggestion of designing and constructing of R.C. short beams in transfer floors are given.
