Reconflgurable Manufacturing is a principle that instructs and manages the manufacturing system to reconfigure, and it makes the system respond rapidly to the change of the outer market through adjusting the inner. The researches in this thesis are facility layout, visualization and process simulation of Manufacturing Cell according to the layout problem of manufacturing system. The main problems are studied and solved as follows:(1) The facility model lib is set up by using the 00 technology, abstracting the behavior of virtual facility and analyzing and concluding the properties and behavior including the common and unique, and therefore it provides an effective tool for modeling and analysis of the facility layout and reconfiguration rapidly of manufacturing cell. In this system we use SolidWroks to create the 3D facility model first, and use PolyTrans to transfer it to FLT form. Then we study the way to transfer FLT form to FST including the material and the texture of the 3D model, and the problem of the speed becoming slow when the scale of system is enlarged. In addition, we propose a framework for rapid construction of manufacturing cell under Virtual Environment, and study the technology and applications of Vega.(2) It is presented that facility layout is optimized by using Genetic Algorithm. Firstly we get the math modeling with the object function and restrict. Then design the algorithm including the code and operator. Finally the optimized result is shown as a VFF file and stereo display is realized in the system.(3) Stereo display of 3D model in Vega environment is realized through EON ICATCHER system by programming, which applying principles of stereo display, namely parallaxes, adopting negative parallaxes and the Quad-Buffered Stereo function of OpenGL. The key step is to set stereo mode VGWINSTEREO as VGTRUE of VgWindow property by common API function such as vgProp. It is useful here to call API function. Then program C++ code which enable to set window property of TManager and TVegaThread class.(4) This thesis last preliminarily studies on simulation of flexible process of a manufacturing cell. A prototype software system is developed with C++Builder and Vega. Here we take a FMS as an example to realize visualized layout and construction. It is convenient for users to select the facilities optionally from the facility lab and put them into the workshop, in the same time, the position and orientation of a facility can be adjusted. The manufacturing cell is also constructed automatically and rapidly through the module of Genetic Algorithm. In addition, the flexible process simulation of manufacturing cell is shown in the system. The simulation is according to the SCH file input by users. Thereby it is a good way to check and appraise the process design of manufacturing cell visually.
