Descriptive geometry is the basic of the engineering. It occupies an significant place in the whole teaching system. As an important part of the teaching means, the models play an accessorial role in helping students understand the content of teaching actively. The traditional models which can't be modified are incapable of answering the need of the modern teaching owing to its disadvantages, such as costful, brittle, inconvenient. The virtual model library which is based on three-dimensional CAD can overcome these disadvantages completely, and holds a consequence in the innovation of modern teaching. In order to lighten the teachers' workload and improve the students'go-aheadism, we built the virtual model library which is based Pro/ENGINEER. In building the library, we combine the three-dimensional modeling technology with database technology and have built the terse, friendly and convenient human-machine interface using visual basic 6.0, besides we have realized browsing the models through transferring Productview Express. The main contents of this article are as follows:1. Summarizing the actuality and characteristics of Descriptive geometry, analyzing the domestic and foreign present situation, primary content, research goal and research significance about the topic.2. Introducing interrelated theories of parameterized design, which provide the theoretic elements and research ideas for building virtual models.3. Introducing database and its interface technologies, and expatiating the methods of the main tables' designing and its functions.4. In the paper, the whole framework of system development and all the details are explained detailedly, and the parameterized modeling method is given by the example.5. Summarizing the full text and giving tentative design to perfect the system.
