Steal ball mill is the most familiar equipment in coal-fired power plant. It's take up of 80%-85% in countrywide coal-fired plant, and it is used widely in other industries. The steal ball mill's advantage is running reliably with low operation and maintenance fees. But the existing problem is that milling power consumption is high up to 15-25% auxiliary power consumption and the load of the mill is difficult to measure accurately.At the beginning, we investigate the research situate on measurement of the coal in the mill and the development tendency. After doing that, we decided to work hard on finding the characteristic spectrum, in hope of getting reasonable measurement on the base of it. In this article we get vibration signal from the fore bearing of the ball mill and do fast Fourier transform (FFT) and quantitative analysis by virtue of Matlab. At last, we get the conclusion. Namely, the spectrum of axe's vibration from 500HZ to 2000HZ is the characteristic spectrum, it can express the load of the ball mill excellently.After that, we design the corresponding parameter of the circuit and circuit diagram. We collect vibration signal by sensor, the signal is magnified and filtered by pretreating, circuit. After that the signal is sent into AD536 which calculating it's virtual value. At last , the circuit send a 4-20mA standard current, which express the load of the ball mill.
