Content: Urban park plays a vital importance role in enhancing the appearance and the image of the city. It is also important in topics such as urban planning, urban construction, tourism, and leisure. In recent years, with the acceleration of urbanization, urban construction has been developed rapidly as well. Thus, the JiangXi Provincial Chinese Communist Party Committee, the local government, and the Nanchang municipal government have called for building Nanchang city as a modern civilized Garden City. Their goal: transform Nanchang into the Garden City goal by 2010. With the implementation of these policies and objectives, the urban parks, the cultural Plaza and other public recreation sites will be developed quickly. Therefore, it is the right time to study on the spatial distribution of urban park in Nanchang city.Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is the technology for depositing, processing and analyzing the spatial information. It is widely used in urban management, regional environmental monitoring, land evaluation all over the world, It also expedites the development of the urban planning and construction. This paper, using GIS as a tool for its powerful capabilities on processing and analyzing the spatial data, focuses on the issue of the spatial distribution of the urban park in Nanchang city.
