MES(Manufacturing Execution System) is a bridge between top-level transaction and low-level control system of facilities and it is the key to implement the integration of all enterprise information systems.Along with the rapid development of Information Technology these years, enterprises is going to step up information modernization. MES, an advanced management idea and tool, becomes a very important way to improve enterprises management ability and competence. The Network Manufacturing is the developmental trend for the enterprise in the future. Considering the need of MES for enterprise, the research of MES oriented to the Network Manufacturing will have great importance. It can improve the level of management of manufacturing and automation. With the support of computer technology and network communication technology, the MES system realizes not only the interior information exchange within the enterprise, but also the prompt obtaining and settlement of exterior information, which provides the basis for the enterprise to make correct and timely decisions. This dissertation introduces the origin, development process and present situation of MES system, thoroughly studies the related theories technology and models of MES, compares the nature of MES of process industries anf discrete industries ,and analyzes some related questions about carrying out MES in manufacturing enterprise, illustrates the affairs flow and modules classification of some important modules. The system uses Oracle 9i and ASP as its developing tools and adopts B/S structure. It constructs an entire framework based on network manufacturing. And it not only constructs the basic databases of human resource system and manufacturing industry, but also realizes some functions of the six sub-systems, reaches the expected aim through instances, and realizes alternating operations through network, thus provides a peek into the way on which manufacturing enterprises take good control of workshop resources.
