| With the development of economic, the traffic roads are developing and the requirement of the road is higher. The traditional asphalt pavement cannot satisfy the modern requirement. So more studies on the asphalt material are carried out. The modification is the effective method to improve the properties of the asphalt. This method is applied widely and good results are received. SBS is composed of polystyrene called"stiffed segment"and polybutadiene call"soft segment". The specific structure endues the SBS with the superior properties and the SBS is the most useful modifier.According to Technical Specifications for Construction of Highway Asphalt Pavement, climate and design, the Shell-90 asphalt is modified by SBS and conclusions are followed:(1) The aggregate gradation of mixture is determined by Marshall stability experiments. The most suitable content of asphalt is also determined as 4.9% for general asphalt and 4.8% for modified asphalt.(2) The influence of content of SBS on the temperature sensitivity, performance under high temperature, anti-crack ability under low temperature, elasticity, anti-aging ability of substrate asphalt is studied. The influence of content of SBS on the water-stability, property under high temperature and anti-crack ability under low temperature of asphalt mixture is also researched. The suitable content of SBS is 6%.(3) On the basis of experiments, try pavement is constructed when the content of SBS is 6%. The pavement technology is confirmed and the performance of pavement is tested. Changjiang road in Kunsan was constructed using the modified asphalt. It is found that the property of SBS modified asphalt can satisfy the design. |
