PDM Of UBOM Based On STEP In Networked Manufacturing Environment

With the rapid development of science and technology, especially the information technology,the market has become internationally and has been more and more knowledge-based.In the mean time, customer' s needs have lend to itself a greater diversity, therefore the mass customization,which is the new frontier in business competition and the new paradigm of design and manufacturing, is inevitable. In order to respond the change of the market quickly, to shorten the lead-time, and to provide better services, more and more enterprises are adopting advanced design and manufacturing technologies, such as web-enabled collaborative environment.However, the works to be done, such as information integration, have to be based on the present systems, not from scratch. The key characteristics are the integration of geographically distributed and heterogeneous systems.A variety of techniques go a long way towards solving these problems. Bill of material (BOM) is one of them, and is of a great importance in the computer integrated manufacture systems(CIMS).During the product life cycle, BOM runs through almost all department including designing, process planning, manufacturing, ordering, selling and finance, which make their own BOM according to their needs. However, so far there is no unified designing and managing standard to make BOM. To make it worse,all BOM except EBOM and PBOM, are setup on handwork,which has no way to guarantee the unity of all BOM data. Such a situation in manufacturing industry greatly restricts the efficiency and integration of designing, manufacturing and managing.What's more increase product cost and lengthens product exploring cycle. This gives necessity a great importance to the research on the unified BOM model based on STEP in the informatization in manufacturing industry.
