Wudang Power urban distribution network severs for the state-level high-tech industrial development zone, which puts forward a higher request of electrical quality. Along with the deepening power grid reconstruction, the network becomes much more complex than before. In order to comprehensively improve the technical operation of economic indicators, the building of distribution automation system is imperative.This study based on the current research results and applications of distribution automation and current distribution network of Wudang area, researched the pilot urban distribution automation of Wudang area and the application of distribution automation technology in the pilot.This study followed the principle of "unified planning, step-by-step implementation and reasonable allocation, information sharing," analyzed and described the current status of the Wudang distribution network and the development of distribution automation in Wudang Power, selected pilot distribution lines and switching equipments, proposed principles and methods for circular distribution transformation of pilot lines, and defined the scope and scale of distribution automation pilot.This study combined the current status of Wudang distribution network and the typical structure model of distribution automation system, proposed that pilot distribution automation system take two layer structure model which consists of distribution master station layer and remote terminal unit layer. Based on this model, this study suggested that pilot distribution automation communication system also adopt two layer structure system composed of branch communication layer and user communication layer, presented a multi-communication project for the pilot distribution automation communication system and the ways to realize the project, and gave three solutions to the possible response delay.This study analyzed and compared commonly used feeder automation models, proposed two realistic solutions for pilot "hand in hand" circular distribution network feeder automation. In addition, this study pointed out the methods of building a integrated automation system. Finally, this study described the strategies of handling faults in master station of distribution automation system.
