In recent years, more and more air terminals which are a new sort of public traffic architecture style are built in many centre cities. The extraordinary structure, open space and passengers'capability makes its fire risk increasing. This paper takes case for smoke exhaust System of an airport in ChongQing to do some research on smoke control. Firstly, fire risk of the whole building was analyzed to find the dangerous zone, then the fire load of the dangerous zone is accounted, and two different fire scenes are designed according to the statistical result. Using the transient t-square fire model, the RHR (Rate of Heat Release) of the fire is set up. Secondly, the numerical calculation model for this zone is built. The universal field-model program PHOENICS is used to do some research on smoke free movement rules of no smoke control system, after that, another five different smoke control projects including natural smoke exhaust and mechanical smoke exhaust are simulated respectively. The result for smoke consistence field, temperature field and the drop of smoke layer is showed by visible pictures. Then, the area of natural smoke exhaust hole and the mechanical smoke exhaust volume is discussed. Fourthly, a physical model is built to validate the reliability of the result which is get from the same dimension PHOENICS model. And a FDS program is used to validate the accuracy of the result which is get from the PHOENICS numerical model of the airport lounge. In the end, the paper selects the smoke control project for the airport lounge through the comparison between economy and life safety, and gives some advice on the domestic actual prescriptive fire protection design code.
