Water resources is a very important natural and strategic economic resources. With the rapid development of society and economy, the problems on the lack of water resources and deterioration of water environment are increasingly appearing. Water resources becomes one of key factors in the sustainable development of social economy and ecological environment. So, it is very necessary and also urgent to carry out comprehensive studies on comprehensive evaluation of water resources carrying capacity (WRCC).The existing research on comprehensive evaluation of WRCC at home and abroad is reviewed thouroughly, and the characteristics, the problems were pointed out. Finally analyses the research trends of comprehensive evaluation of WRCC. Then, the general process, the classification and the mothod of study of comprehensive evaluation on WRCC are comprehensively studied. The evaluation indicator system of WRCC is established, according to the analysis of the principia and the mothod for indicator structurization. The signification and arithmetic of every indicator are set up.On the basis of anterior study and current theory and information on WRCC, a mothod integrated subjective and objective weighting's virtues and the comprehensive evaluation model for WRCC based on complex weighting method were set up. The method for indicator normalization and the explanation for the result of the comprehensive evaluation are all studied. For reducing the quantities of the calculation and easy to use the modle, software was exploited based on Visual Basic6.0 and Matrix VB.The case study was carried out with the evaluation indicator system and the comprehensive evaluation model based on complex weighting method for water resources carrying capacity in the drainage area of Linjiang River, Chongqing city. The comprehensive evaluation result indicates the water resources carrying capacity of the drainage area of Linjiang River was feebleness. Compared with the result, which was get by subjective weghting, the comprehensive evaluation model based on complex weighting method is feasible.
