Belt conveyor is the main device of modern scattered material successive transportation. To improve design level and reduce cost, the dynamical design method gained highly regards and was deeply researched, which has made great value for project.At the present time, the longitudinal model was well established and could show the main dynamics of belt, while it could not solve the problems about belt transverse characteristic. On the analysis of drive equipment, the way of describing drive output based on its steady characteristic has dropped behind. There are dynamical analysis methods for drive system in foreign journals. This paper would make a further research on several key questions in modeling belt conveyor dynamics.First, it analyzed motor dynamics of drive system. It selected eight state variables which were three-phase stator current, three-phase rotor current, rotor rotational speed and rotor angular displacement, and established motor state equations in ABC coordinate system. Then used VB6.0 software and four-step Runge-Kutta method to solve the equations of an example, and discussed the output variations of electromagnetic torque and rotational speed.According to couplings' structure and operating principle, it analyzed the drive system dynamics with coupling, described the transmission process of torque, and showed the dynamical signal flow. It also showed signal flow with transducer when U / f is a constant.It researched on the way of creating two-dimension belt dynamical model. Applied finite element method to discrete belt into a number of planar beam elements which could result longitudinal and transverse deformation, and each beam element node had three displacement variables, which expressed the belt longitudinal displacement, transverse displacement and sag variation. By analyzing beam elements' characteristics running on idler and pulley, adding belt viscous-elastic behavior and resistance behavior, and combining take-up model and reasonable boundary, it obtained belt dynamical equations in two-dimension model.At the end, it presented a numeric solution flow for the whole system dynamical model by means of combining drive system dynamical characteristics and two-dimension belt model. It also represented the way of creating dynamical analysis software from three aspects.
