The control of HAWT's (horizontal axis wind turbine) operational state and process is the main research object of current wind turbine analysis and design technology. Based on the theory of aerodynamic calculation and the principle of energy conversion for HAWT, this paper develops the entire set model of wind turbine. The paper establishes the mathematical models of main components of HAWT, including generator, power train and control system, at the same time, presents the static and dynamic simulation models of HAWT's operational state and process. Based on these, the paper developed a simulation module of control system of HAWT with the software-developed tool of Visual C++. The module is based on the platform of WIN32. The module was integrated with the HAWT aerodynamic performance and structure CAD software "Blade Design for Windows" . This makes the capability of "Blade Design for Windows" expand to the whole machine of HAWT. The paper is one of the important parts in the national "863 plan" project named " Full System Loads Analysis and Optimize Design for Software of HAWT" . It includes three sections: the entire set model of wind turbine, the basic control rules, the chief supervisory control and operational state and the software development of control modules.First of all, the section of entire set model of wind turbine settles the aerodynamic problem of rotor. After that, it includes the power train module, generator module and the energy loss module. The power train module use to establish the simulation model of power train that includes the rotor, low speed shaft, high speed shaft gearbox, generator and the brake system. The generator module establishes the common generator model including the kinetic model of induction generator and the first order model of double-feed induction generator. Furthermore, the paper also defines the mathematical models of energy loss.The section of basic control rules defines the mathematics model of transducers, blade actuator, PI controller to the torque, PI controller to the pitch angle and so on.
