As one special resources, the water grew Chiangnan's unique culture, has constructed the Chiangnan urban-rural patterns, is impelling the Chiangnan development. In the urbanized advancement, the Chiangnan rural water environment is faced with some stern problems such as aggravating pollution and ground water mining , excessive destruction of water landscape patterns and so on. At present, system research of Chiangnan rural water environment is few, water landscape development pattern related research is especially rarely seen.This article takes the Chiangnan rural water landscape as the object of study, after limits the concepts of "Chiangnan"and"the Chiangnan rural area" , it integrates the paddy fields to the research category, and points out the characteristics of Chiangnan rural water bodies such as the diverse type, high proportion, intensive disturbance from humanity. After reviews the domestic and foreign relative research progress,with the instructions of landscape ecology theory an so on. This article has studied the growth of Chiangnan rural water landscape, thought climatic factors and human factors are the primary factors which affect the water landscape growth, then has analyzed its patch - corridor - matrix configuration; summarized the functions of Chiangnan rural water bodies which are referred to physical production, ecology service and cultural inheritance; divided the water landscape into five types which are productive water bodies, travelling water bodies,living water bodies, restored water bodies and non-development water bodies .Jiangyin city is the typical Chiangnan rural area in Jiangsu Province, its urbanized advancement is in the front row of our country, the investigation and study work are centered around Jiangyin. Divided Jiangyin into four districts: Riverine district, Lacustrine district, Surrounded district and Conventional district, with the support of GIS software Arcgis 8.3, Mapinfo7.0 and Landscape Index Analysis software Fragstats3.3, this artical has analyzed the water landscape patterns and dynamic changes of Jiangyin in urbanized advancement and studied the landscape ecological seurity & optimization patterns and landscape structures (units)of three cases which represent the districts.
