Urban Water System And Preservation Of Urban Characteristic

This thesis inquires into the relationship of urban water system and urban characteristic in the time when the urban water system is declining and the urban characteristic is losing today and the countermeasure how to preserve urban water system and urban characteristic by taking the cities of the Jiangnan district as an example. It begins from the essential factors of the water system in the cities of the Jiangnan district, and then it put forwards three essential space factors which are affected by the water system in these cities. These three essential space factors are traffic, commerce and residence. They are the most important factors which affect the development of the city. Because human behavior is the essence cause of the decline of the water system, the most countermeasure to preserve the water system and urban characteristic in the cities of the Jiangnan district is restore human behavior connecting to water. At last the thesis inquires into the concrete countermeasure how to preserve the water system in the cities of the Jiangnan district, and make the sustainable development in these cities.
