This thesis is based on the development of the SCADA system for a hydraulic test bench, which is co-developed with Xinyuan hydraulic Co. Ltd.The thesis is organized according to actual development process of the control unit. In the first part, the general concept of the SCADA and the basic component of hydraulic system are introduced. And the general theory of data acquisition and industrial control is discussed. In the following part, the multi-MCU and PCs based system architecture is proposed and some key points such as communication protocol, task distribution, system extension in both scale and space are proposed. Coming next is the actual development methodology of the hardware, in which the multi-tier and multi-channel method is proposed and demonstrated by some schematic circuit .In the next part, OPC standard interface is introduced and utilized for distributed control and internet-based control purpose. Finally, the implementation of the entire SCADA system in the hydraulic test bench is fully discussed, some unexpected issues encountered were mentioned and the solution approach was introduced.In short, thanks to the multi-tier and multi-channel development methodology, the development of hardware is simplified and the update process is shortened. And the implementation of OPC in PCs optimizes the software design and increase the openness of the system. And the aims to shorten developing period and widen application flexibility are achieved.
