By applying the virtual prototype technology, this paper tries to acquire the dynamic performance of the multi-folding hatch cover of the multi-purpose vehicle during its opening process.Base on a reasonable simplification to the multi-folding hatch cover, this paper firstly builds the geometric model of its main structures. Then, translates the models to MSC.ADAMS software with the Parasolid type, and imposes constraints/motions on them according to their relative movement. The key parameters during the opening process of the hatch cover are obtained by carrying out the dynamic analysis. Given the reason that the load conditions of the hydraulic arms and STOP structures are complicated, this paper implements the simultaneous modeling and finite element analysis for them by using UG,MSC.ADAMS and MSC.Patran /Nastran software.The hydraulic cylinders'working-thrust and the hydraulic arm's stress are measured by the digital pressure gauge and DH 5932 Dynamic Stress-Strain Test System on site. Comparisons between the test measurements and computation results have a good agreement, with the maximum relative error about 8% and 5%. The results demonstrate that the research method is correct and the hatch cover's virtual prototype is also reasonable. The analysis results could be regard as the designing reference for the new type of the multi-folding hatch cover, and the virtual prototype could be used to do more deep analyses according to different needs.
