Tranditional HVDC technology uses mercury converter and phase commutated converter for distant and large scale power transmission. Mercuty converter is a kind of half-control switch which can be contolled to link the current but not to shut it off, and works at a low frequency. Phase commutated converter has a complicated circuit and big volume, and needs the power network to supply a phase commutated voltage. The converter would fail to work if the shifting angle is smaller than the extinction angle. There are too many harmonics and the power quality is too ropy in the tranditional HVDC system. And this technology is not suitable for the transmission of the distributed and small new energy.VSC-HVDC with some particular advantages over the conventional HVDC is considered as a major development in HVDC technology. It solves some problems of the conventional HVDC. This paper will study from three aspects listed as follows:The steady-state interaction between VSC and its connecting AC system are analyzed and the steady-state mathematical models are developed, which suits the VSC-HVDC connecting two active AC systems. This model describle the relationship between the controlled variables such as the active power, reactive power, voltage, current and the controlling variables of the VSC. On the basis of the model ,the control strategy is proposed. In order to testify the strategy, the VSC-HVDC control system is created according to the strategy. At last ,the operation performance of the VSC-HVDC under some characteristic faulted conditions without...
