Sine wave inverter is widely used in electric power, telecommunications, communications, aerospace and other fields, and along with the continuous development and popularization of computer technology the application of sine wave inverter will be more broad.The SPWM inverter controller whose performance determines the performance of the inverter directly is the core center of sine wave inverter. Currently, the digital sine inverter is commonly controlled by DSP and other common processors. In DSP and other common processors method, the task is performed serially through software programming, the task becomes more complex and the execution time is more longer.In FPGA method, more logic blocks are called to work in parallel through software programming, the task becomes more complex and the logic blocks called are more.In order to meet the needs of the high-performance multi-functional inverter field, this paper presents a FPGA-based SPWM inverter controller design method.Using Altera's Quartusâ…¡8.0, I have designed the controller in top-down design method. First, according to the function of the controller, the design was divided into several modules. Then, each module was designed and simulated respectively, and the controller's top-level circuit was designed and simulated.Finally, the program was downloaded to FPGA chip EP2C5Q208C8N and the output waveforms of the controller were watched with the oscilloscope. The controller has precise and stable output pulses and fast dynamic response, and it is easy to facilitate extensions, upgrade ,modify and transplantate, field programming and so on.In order to verify the features and performance of the SPWM inverter controller designed, I have developed a full-bridge SPWM inverter prototype, the pulse transformer driver circuit, the voltage sampling circuit, over-current protection circuit and filter circuit were designed. Under the control of SPWM inverter controller the function and performance of the inverter were experimentally tested. Experimental results show the correctness of the theoretical analysis and the feasibility of the method.
