The hybrid stepping motor has the best performance among all kinds of stepping motor, it's also the widely used kind of stepping motor now. This dissertation does some embedded investigation focused on the 5-phase hybrid stepping motor which has 10 poles and 50 tooth on the rotor. This paper investigates the structure of the hybrid stepping motor, because of the hybrid stepping motor's special structures, the state variables' non-linearity and strong coupling among these variables, makes the mathematical modeling of the five-phase hybrid stepping motor hard to express. This paper considers the saturation and gives a mathematical model of five-phase hybrid stepping motor ,then in MATLAB ,a simulation for the current is made. Based on it , a calculation formula about the torque-frequency characteristics of this motor has been deduced. Considering saturation of magnetic circuit, it analyzes and nonlinearizes the parameters of winding inductance. In MATLAB, the model is simulated, and the simulation result gives a good agreement with the actual character.Based on the varieties of the drive technique, this paper designs a driving system of Hybrid Stepping Motor with Constant-current Chopping. It realizes digital closed loop control with simple circuit by single-chip, and Complex Programmable Logic Device (CPLD) is adopted to realize circular distributor. It introduces every part's function, and depicts the design of hardware and software. The experimental results indicates that the design of hardware and software is reasonable and feasible, successfully completes the development task, The project has some advantages of little bulk, low cost and convenient practice, so it is goodvaluable of realization.
