The Research On The Capacity Of JingJinTang Highway

Highway capacity is an important transportation criterion and a main decision-making basis of the highway construction. To ascertain the highway capacity is necessary for highway traffic planning, design, management and maintenance, as well as a task of highway technology-economy management staff. Nowadays, China has no scientific and consistent method and system of highway capacity analysis. With no parameter, pattern and highway capacity analysis system which suit Chinese national highway condition, China just uses overseas research results that can't completely reflect our highway transportation characteristic. The inaccurate highway capacity causes excessively high highway construction standard or over-duplicated construction, which leads to enormous construction funds loss.This paper offers a precise analysis and a profound research on the topic of highway capacity, with the combination of theory and practice, quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis.This paper first carries on the outline of the research methods of highway capacity, and makes a comparative study for the vehicle classification from the aspects of common classification and based on the highway capacity research. Then this paper makes more detailed introduction and study on the Passenger-car Equivalents (PCE), comparing the advantages and disadvantages of different computational methods of PCE. It also studies the highway capacity and levels of service and proposes the highway capacity model based on statistical analysis. Finally, this paper studies the highway capacity with the model according to the actual observation data on the JingJinTang highway, as well as studying the state and levels of service of JingJinTang highway.The highway capacity will have corresponding enhancement with the improvement of highway engineering techniques, the automobile manufacture technology and the intellectualized technology etc.
