The generator is one of the most important factors of electric power system, the experiments of generator and its control system is important to Lab teaching and scientific research of electric power system and its automation. In this paper we present a simulator which could simulates the main operating characteristics of generator and could be used as a generator in several instructional experiments. This device also could be used in the closed loop experiment with governor and AVR. The output of this device simulates three-phase voltage of generator. Each phase has the same frequency and amplitude, but different with each other by 120o phase angle difference. This device also can simulate the manual adjustment of generator voltage and frequency. It shows the influence of idle-current and rotation speed change on voltage. The influence of active current change on frequency is also can be reflected with this device.In this paper we expound the exploring process of the simulator, such as the establishing and predigestion of the mathematic model, function programming, design and simulation of electrocircuit module, design of PCB board, manufacture and debug of the model machine.
