| China has a large population with frequent communication and much object flux. Passenger /ro-ro passenger ship makes it have the most potential development. Otherwise, the economic level of our country is not high that affects the strength of the military affairs with restricted outgoings. To construct new special type and all-purpose ro-ro passenger ship can not only satisfy the people's needs but also strengthen the military affairs, it also meets the situation of our country. It needs us think over the demand of the army use before our construction and improve on the configuration of the ship and the characteristic of the equipments consciously to accord with requirement of the military affairs.This dissertation starts with introducing the common ro-ro passenger ship with its characteristic and special equipments, emphasizes the ro-ro passenger ship M/V Putuo Dao for an example which launched in June,2006, particularly involving the characteristic and requirement of the ship structure, hatch chamber design and lighting, performance demand of the deck and engine equipments, electrical equipments and the special performance for the military affairs. It is worthy emphasizing that the army-civilian ships mainly satisfy the army use with higher demand, for example , heavier load of the stern gangway, more extensive communication, more medical treatment location, stronger capability of fire protection, higher stability, better manoeuvre and navigability ,also increase the platform for the helicopters rise and descend.In addition, M/V Putuo Dao has experienced the midseason of the Summer-Transportation, Golden-Week of the National Day and comparatively stable market trial. Its whole performance : security, easiness, economization, reliability etc. all have achieved expected design requirement. All of these descriptions indicate the design scheme is successful.The dissertation will provide instructions for designing and rebuilding new type all-purpose ro-ro passenger ships.
