The technology of ship electrical propulsion had been widely used in recent years. The use of electrical propulsion system has developed from military to civil, marine to river transportation. The technology of electrical propulsion had become the new direction of motivity equipment in modern ship. The development of ship equipping the equipment of electrical propulsion is in the ascendant. The study of electrical propulsion system has become more and more popular. The paper introduced the composing, characteristic and development status of ship electrical propulsion system. The paper has a detail introduction of Podding electrical propulsion and point out that the Podding is certain to be the best choice of propulsion method and it has limitless potential. The paper has a modularization analysis of ship electrical propulsion system. The paper develops the simulating mathematical model of every subsystem. It includes the thrust and torque of screw propeller, the resistance and re-torque in the movement of ship. The paper puts forward a scheme that use ARM and DSP to compose the subsystem, which function is characteristic simulation of Ship-Engine-Propeller. The paper also puts the material method of how to realize this subsystem. The paper has a detail analysis of the process of load's change when propulsion motor is shifting and analyzes the characteristic of load's change towards the different operation states. The paper also advances the improving arithmetic contrapose the analysis hereinbefore. The paper develops the integrated system's simulating mathematical model to make the simulation and study of characteristic and control of ship electrical propulsion on this condition.
