With the increasing prospect of the electric propulsion and the great progress of its relevant technologies, laboratory building on marine electric propulsion plays important role for the research of electric propulsion and its related performances. Regarding the characteristics of marine electric propulsion and with the marine electric propulsion lab of School of Energy and Power Engineering, WHUT as basic model, this paper sets up and studies simulation model under the simulation software Saber environment and then uses the experiment device to verify the accuracy, reliability and stability of the simulation system. This device consists of propulsion frequency converter, propulsion motor, load frequency converter, load motor and control unit. The propulsion frequency converter, propulsion motor and control unit make up the propulsion subsystem, which is applied to simulate the characteristics of propulsion motor. The load subsystem is composed of the load frequency converter, load motor and load control unit.The paper mainly deals about the modeling and simulating of the vector control system for the propulsion and load system of AC motor. Frequency conversion speed regulation is the best way of speed regulating of AC motor, and also very important in the AC speed regulations. This paper summarizes carefully the mathematics models of the motor, SPWM Voltage Frequency Converter etc according to the knowledge of Electric Machinery and Power Electronic Techniques and set up the mathematics models of the voltage vector control system of the variable frequency SPWM control according to principle of the Frequency Converter SPWM of Siemens 6se70 series. By the advantages of controllability, no destructibility, safety, being free from outside interruption, the simulation system can be applied for integrated analysis and comparison of complex problems, and pick out the optimized relevant parameters from compared strategies and schemes and through building simulation model and repeated simulation tests in the computer. After establishing the model of propulsion and load systems, the simulation system assembles the mathematics models of all parts and gets the whole mathematics model of the system to build a complete simulation system.The paper makes valuable conclusions by setting up the simulation model of experimental device under the simulation software Saber environment, simulating electric propulsion vessels under all kinds of working conditions of electric propulsion vessels, and analyzing the dynamic and static states of the SPWM voltage vector control system under working conditions such as free voyage, on load and reverse etc. At the same time, from different simulation experiments this paper obtains some related characteristic curves by whose comparison the veracity, reliability and stability in the simulation system could be verified.
