Permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) has many advantages, such as simple structure, small volume and high efficiency. It has been developing rapidly and researching at home and abroad in recent years as the result of the development of a new kind of permanent magnet material, which has high performance and low cost.Firstly, the structure of PMSM and the principles of Finite Element Method (FEM) are introduced in this dissertation, and the field-circuit combined method is also discussed. With the help of the ANSYS software, the distribution of magnetic field in PMSM is analyzed in detail, and the main coefficients and parameters are calculated, which are used in magnetic circuit method.In this dissertation, the PMSM is designed and analyzed. On the base of the field- circuit combined method and the ANSYS software, computer aided design(CAD) software of PMSM is drawn up, which has a kind man-machine interface. By using the software, a prototype motor is designed and the operation performance characteristics are calculated.In the designed software, the interface between the ANSYS software and C++ program is established so that the users of the software, who are strange to ANSYS, can make use of the ANSYS to calculate electromagnetic field of the PMSM. What the users do is only to input motor parameters, and the magnetic field might be calculated automatically by the software.
