Results show that Sign system is of great significance to the wayfinding. In shanghai, large-scale urban commercial transport hubs with comprehensive functions of transportation exchanging, trading, commerce, hotel, exhibition, culture, entertainment and so on begin to emerge or are under planning. The objective of this study is to provide guidance in the sign system design for these urban commercial transport hubs, and clear space indication and direction for users. In this study, a series of experiments of wayfinding are designed, making an evaluation to the sign system in urban commercial transport hubs. The forecast variables are organized in two aspects: types of signs, locations of signs. These variables are organized in the measurement of the experiments. The study investigates these variables' influence to people's wayfinding. The results illustrate: Most of the participants indicated that they relied most on the sign system when finding their way in an unfamiliar environment. They hope that the sign information guiding to various possible destinations would be given in the transportation center, crossings, places with highly intensive people flows. This study is of great significance to the Sign system design in the large-scale commercial space. We hope It can improve the quality of walking in the large-scale commercial space.
