It is introduced that the exploiting background of based on the IEC61131-3 of configurable portection;In order to make protection-engineers free from complex and fussy language-programming, a new programming method is put forward to implement microcomputer protection—configurable protection .The configurable protection selects the function block diagram(FBD)language and structured text(ST) language in IEC61131-3 as the programming language, adopts modularized design idea, and replaces symbolic language with principle chart to program. The idea of configurable protection is getting protection logic figure, building graph program, running and loading down to controller. To select appropriate algorithms satisfy the requirements of the definite engineering. A new visual platform function and characteristic—high efficienty, reliability, flexibility and opening is introduced .In addition, the configuration ,function ,traits of protection system of the configurable protection and the protection components are dwelled on. An application example of directional overcurrent protection with undervoltage–locked is used to illustrate the feasibility and superiority of the visual programming method in microcomputer protection, and the visual programming method is compared with the general programming method .The conclusion derived from this paper is that the visual programming is significant in micro-protection and makes the implement of micro-protection easier , more flexible and reliable .The protective relay for motors are widely used in electric power system. This article analyses the status quo of such type relays,and points out that the integration of the advanced configurable protection with ripe principles and schemes is the device developing characteristic. The paper analyses the software and hardware demands of the protective device of the motors, based of this,adopts programmable logical controller and graphic oriented programming technique to design a protective device for the motors.The paper introduce thedesign scheme and dynamic simulation experiment result.via the experiment data, The paper demonstrate the feasibility of developing the motor protection via graphic oriented programming technique.
