With the widely use of embedded system, automotive electronic industry has entered the high-speed development period. As people's demand in the car comfort, safety and other continues to improve, the functions of automotive electronic software surge, and control systems become increasingly complicated. System software reuse and transplantation becomes more important. Using hierarchical and modular design, the Automotive Electronic Board Support Platform completes the underlying hardware abstraction according to characteristics of the automotive electronic application. It contains a feature-rich and configurable board driver library, and provides a unified set of hardware abstract interface. Not only greatly simplify the hardware operations, improve efficiency, but also lower software development complexity, improve software portability and reusability by implementing the platform-independents of the upper software. Board Support Platform is designed consulting AUTOSAR standard, and it has a good scalability and broad applicability.In this paper, the main contents include:1. Investigation of automotive electronics development, and analysis of the latest AUTOSAR standard, especially the relevant parts of the hardware abstraction.2. Summed up the hardware abstraction techniques used in the field of embedded systems currently, including Board Support Package technology and common hardware abstraction layer technology. Analyzes both of the limitations and proposes the concept of Board Support Platform.3. AUTOSAR standard consulted, designs the Board Support Platform in accordance with the hierarchical and modular architecture.4. Detailed analysis of the specific work by which Board Support Platform be achieved on Freescale's HCS12 series microcontroller.5. Transplantation of Board Support Platform on HCS12 to SmartAMT, developed by ESE Engineering Center, Zhejiang University, and analyzes the effect.The focus of this paper is the architecture design, module implementation and the specific application of Board Support Platform.
