In order to simulate the two-factor nonlinear characteristics of large turbine generator, a 7.5kW model generator was specially developed. This paper mainly focuses on the calculation and test of the model machine's typical characteristics. Combining the FEM and model generator's test, we contrast and analyze the different behaviors of model generator and that of the 300MW and study the characteristics'similarity of no-load characteristics and load characteristics between these two generators. Their results are the base of model generator's design.It is found that the factors of affecting the similarity of the two generators'no-load characteristics are the air-gap and the rotor's material. Besides those two factors of no-load characteristics, the load characteristics is related to the structure and dimension of rotor's tooth & slot and some other more factors.From the calculation and test of the model generator's typical characteristics, the correctness of the simulation program is validated. It gives some valuable reference to the design of next model generator.
