Currently,electricity meters reading system mainly rely on manual meter reading. However the accuracy and real time measurement cannot be satisfied in both items. Since the scatterance of the location of electricity meters,as well as the large number of electricity meters,therefore the manual meter reading costs a lot of workload. Many kinds of automatic meter reading methods had been developed,in order to reduce the workload significantly.The automatic meter reading system discussed in this paper based on Power Line Carrier (PLC) communication method,which has become the first choice of the modern communication of power system. As this system no re-laying of communications channels,as well as the great decline in cost of lines and construction. In Applications of Power line carrier communication,the issue needed to be addressed is the one about the noise and the effective signal transmission. The method of increasing the spread-spectrum and signal transmitting power is been proved to be effective. In this paper,based on actual projects,AMR based on PLC has been studied,along with the effects of large-scale installation of automatic meter reading systems in power management modernization; additionally,the superiority of the use of automatic meter reading has also been studied in aspect of data application.
