Body and frame are main loaded parts of non-integrated type body structure of a car. The analysis of the stiffness and strength characteristics of car body and frame not only can evaluate the performance of the body and frame themselves but also can be used in the guidance of car structure optimization and response analysis.Using FEM, and the non-integrated type body and frame of SUV NHQ6470, this paper makes a systematically simulation and analysis on static characteristics of stiffness and strength. The research work is as follows:Through simplifying the geometric model, and using HyperMesh and Nastran , a fine FEM model of the body shell and frame is established, and then, analysis of the result is made. This paper describes how to deal with the detail structure, part welding and the simulation of the elastic joints between the body and the frame. The paper also discusses how to simulate the load and boundary conditions under torsional and bending loads to meet the actual loading manner of the test.Through the analysis, this paper concludes the result of stiffness in torsional and bending load conditions, the deformation and stress distribution of body and frame, furthermore, the paper finds out the vulnerable areas and deformation of main openings in torsional and bending load conditions.Through the stiffness measuring test, the paper found a simple and convenient way of measuring the stiffness of body and frame, and validated the correctness of the FEM model. The paper concludes the contribution rate of the non-integrated type body and frame to the whole loaded system for the first time by simulation and experiment. The analysis and research indicated that the non-integrated typebody made greater contribution to the entire car in torsional load condition. It provides the theoretical background for the structural design of non-integrated type body and frame and the weight reduction of vehicle.
