The amount of using electric energy is continuously rising with continual development of market economy and improvement of people's standard of living day by day. Whether electric energy measure is equitableness, fair and square, it has become people's very concerned problem. Electric power meter as the measure tool of electric energy has become necessary and very important meter in every walk of life using electricity. Research and development high precision, low power waste, network and intellectualized electric power meter is obvious trend because traditional electric power meter has many shortcomings, for example, measure imprecision, waste time and power for transcribing by hand, statistic loaded down with trivial details and so on.Embedded system technology is one of the most pop technologies in the field of electric products design recent years, at present, it has been applied widely to industry control, intelligent traffic, information home electric appliances and commonality service etc. Embedded system is bringing far-reaching affection to human's back PC times.This article aiming at traditional electric power meter's shortcomings and scarcities and combining current embedded system technology and network technology studies and designs an embedded network electric power meter system, it based on ARM processor, CAN bus and Ethernet transmission. This system is composed mainly of network relay module and electric energy sampling terminal. Network relay module hardware's center process unit is PHILIPS LPC2290. LPC2290 is developed using an ARM7TDMI-S core, 16/32-bit RISC processor designed by Advanced RISC Machines, Ltd. It supplies two CAN buses and some else universal periphery interfaces. Using LPC2290 processor not only reduces design cost of entire system but also greatly lessens additional interface circuit. Network relay module software constitutes embedded WEB server through embedding BOA in μCLinux operating system and completes dynamic network page progRAM through using CGI interface progRAM. Electric energy sampling terminal makes up of special energy IC, single chip and CAN controller. Between network relay module and electric energy sampling terminal communicates by CAN bus, and it insures reliability of information. When user visit the WEB server by network browser, CGI progRAM transmits the electric energy data collected by electric energy sampling terminal to user terminal, realizing network automatically transcribing meter.
