The author of the text aims at the trend of the commercial vehicle IP design, and the text is based on the analyses of the company (FAW) on China truck market, and the strategic decisions is reflected on the analyses.In the text, the author concerns the principle of the IP design, the layout of the main functional accessories of the IP, the optimum of the IP construction and the conception of modularization of IP design. All these refer to the design process of the FAW's product J5M. The author also compares the product with the same kind of products of other competitions' including home and overseas. And draws the conclusion that the IP of the J5M wins the advantages of competitions'in style, structure, manufacture technics and the ware-transportation a lot. When had finished the 3D model ,We used the software such as HYPERMESH and NASTRON to analyze the J5M IP's dynamic simulation and technologic liquidity, and optimized the product according to the analytic results. Finally the product was testified by testing manufacture and experimentation programme, and the results proved that the product's quality improved a lot.The key points of the text include the layout of the J5M IP, the selective calculation of vital parameters, the structure design of IP, FEA and test procedures. The pre-actions concerned above guaranteed the product meet the requirement specialty in manufacture work, flow-line, ergonomics, mendable plant. The modularization of IP design makes the assembly line work and manipulation of IP more facilely, and theseincrease the productivity, the stiffness and intension of IP welded brackets. All these make the surface of the IP smoother, the gaps between the neighboring components more symmetrical. At the same time, the cost and the weight of J5M IP are reduced tremendously.The J5M IP does not only satisfy with the seriation of products, but also reduces the spend on the design and manufacture of corresponding mould, reduces the design cycle. The most importance is that it accelerates the FAW's product gripping the market.The design also demonstrates us a direction of the future IP design, and makes an firm base for our next design, and accommodates us to the development of our country's automobile industry.
