In hot summer, good ventilation is as important as the sunshine in winter. In fact, good outdoor wind environment of buildings not only means walking without difficulties when prevailing wind is in large speed in winter but also means good indoor ventilation in summer in the cold north region in China. Compared to other high cost and complex eco-technologies, natural ventilation is a more mature and cheap technical measure which is not consumed any mechanical energy, in addition it is a practical economic ventilation which can satisfy the indoor comfort conditions and improving indoor air quality, so as to achieve the effective passive cooling, reach the purpose of saving energy.Based on an analysis of the theory about natural ventilation mechanism, this text made reviews and analyses of study methods; it studied how to apply natural ventilation to residential designs reasonablely on the problem of wind environment about residential building in frigid climatic area. It also made a analysis of main factors about the impact of that both indoor and outdoor Wind Environment ,it investigated energy saving approaches from diverse perspectives ,it refer to building groups design,buiding design and building construction details. It made a systematic analysis and preliminary conclusion on wind environment controls.This paper simulated the wind environment of typical building layout (the type of determinant) in frigid climatic area by the use of CFD. It explored how to achieve good ventilation by overall planning and architectural measures through analysis and simulation results, thus it make the wind environment design of dwelling house expanded to be a creation between indoor and outdoor interdependent environment. It can meet requests both comfort of inhabitants and energy efficiency.It necessary to study China's current residential ventilation modality to reinforce optimal designs on wind environment of dwelling house so as to find a more suitable modality that can suit its own national conditions and meet the ventilation requirements of energy-saving residences. Thus we can speed up the pace of health residences, catching up with the level of developed countries abroad.
