As a strong trend in contemporary civilization, "Globalization" has penetrated into every sphere of life. In the field of architecture, globalization brings new construction techniques and materials to developing countries; simultaneously, it also provides us advanced and fashionable style, which has an intense impact on regional architecture culture. Therefore, regional cultural characteristics, regarded as the individuality of city and architecture, gradually declined and vanished. In this situation, how to protect the continuation and development of regional architecture culture becomes a mission for all Chinese contemporary architects.China has its own history, culture, and rich architectural languages. Chinese people have accumulated abundant construction experience during the long period of resistance against nature, so we should absorb and also preserve all this valuable experience from our ancestors in our own way. Traditional settlement buildings, which demonstrate a kind of strong regional characteristics, concentrate Chinese traditional living custom, philosophy and geography. We can gain a lot from them that is significant to modern regional architecture. This paper mainly targets on Mous'Manor, together with Ding's Manor and other typical traditional settlement buildings in eastern Shan Dong Province, which boasts its cradle for Qi and Lu Culture. The author did investigations in this region and made a comprehensive analysis by means of comparison and contrast, induction and deduction, etc. And this paper goes to three parts as follows: Firstly, this paper analyzes the regional characteristics by researching on the impact factor of the settlement architecture such as geography, history, cultural and social morphology etc., which tends to function as background information. Secondly, it focuses on settlement space, architecture shape and decoration process, and also gives a summary of cultural characteristics demonstrated in this region's buildings. Finally, this paper, with specific examples of successful modern regional architectural design, makes a conclusion of its consideration and inspiration of the regional modern architectural design; it brings forward the principle that we should develop as well as inherit our traditional architectural culture, in the light of its practical significance in building a new socialist countryside.
