A Study On The Design Of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) In The Medical Building

As the clinical base of intensive medicine, the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) concentrates critical patients, a large amount of advanced apparatus and superexcellent staff of first aid of hospital. It plays an increasingly important role in the medical practice. The medical function of ICU reflects the overall rescue level of the hospital, and is the important sign of the modernized hospital.ICU has been developing very fast and making profound achievements since it emerged three decades ago. With the arrival of information age, a large amount of advanced, newly introduced digital medical apparatus play a key role rapidly. The centralized monitoring function and strong therapeutic effect of ICU is being promoted constantly, and has received extensive attention. At present, most hospitals in our country need to be expanded. As the special room in the hospital, though ICU of our country develops fast, a lot of problems exist in the course of construction, which needs progressing, probing into and studying.The thesis focuses on Intensive Care Unit and is based on theories of critical care medicine, architecture, sociology, and psychology. The current situation of space environment in Intensive Care Unit and the behavior of people are investigated and analyzed, in combination with medical treatment work of critical care medicine and patient demand. The problems existing in ICU in China at present are discussed. The fundamental principles and theories of ICU have been explained, from respects such as the scale, classification, position, plane arrangement form, subareas of functions, the designs of the streamline, and the design of cleaning room and so on of ICU. In line with attitude of discovering problems, analyzing problems and solving problems, using the professional theory and design method, the research is carried on into the architectural design of ICU and engineering projects, applies analysis and theory to practice, in the hope of offering science and beneficial materials and advices for the design of the ICU.
