In recent years, strengthening the reform and development of children's medical and health services has become an important part of the construction of healthy China and the development of health and family planning. The healthy growth of children is related to family happiness and the future of the nation. With the continuous improvement of our country's social and economic level and the continuous improvement of the social medical security system, the medical and health service of children has been developed rapidly, but it has also brought about unreasonable allocation of medical resources and imbalance between supply and demand.A series of problems such as the contradiction between doctors and patients are prominent. As the main practice place of children's intensive care unit, the number, scale, hardware facilities, diagnosis and treatment technology of the children's intensive care unit(ICU)in China have developed rapidly. It also plays an important role in reducing child mortality and combating all kinds of public health emergencies and disasters. At the same time, the transformation of modern medical model not only requires the consideration of patients' physiological disease, but also pays more attention to the behavioral psychological needs of different users, especially children. And the corresponding relationship of using behavioral psychological needs should be fully considered in the architectural design,so as to create a warm, comfortable, highly efficient and life-oriented medical environment. The child intensive care unit(ICU)is a kind of monitoring unit model derived from the traditional integrated intensive care unit(ICU).The demand for building space must be different from the traditional integrated ICU design. But in the actual design work, most of them copy the comprehensive ICU model completely, and do not take into account the spatial needs of children's special cognition, emotional uncontrollability and strong dependence. This paper mainly takes the children's specialized hospital and the general hospital PICU as the research object. And a number of representative PICU hospitals are selected for field research and questionnaire interviews.Firstly, summarize the basic design elements of PICU.Then, patients in PICU were studied based on the theoretical study of behavioral and psychological needs. The evaluation results of the three kinds of users' behavioral activities and psychological needs of medical staff and children's families were analyzed quantitatively by scientific statistical method. The psychological needs of their respective behavior reflect the shortcomings of the current PICU design which need to be improved. Then, according to the existing problems and development trends, the specific optimization methods are proposed from four aspects of space organization, plane layout, space scale and indoor environment. In order to meet the needs of the user's behavior and psychology,to create a good and comfortable PICU space environment, and finally to test the proposed optimal design method with engineering examples. The aim is to provide reference for the future construction and development of children's intensive care unit.In general, through theoretical analysis, field research, questionnaires and statistical analysis of data, and using layers of progressive thinking, finally come up with specific and optimal design methods. And try to build a more humanized hospital design.Based on the principle of paying attention to the psychological needs of users, this paper reveals that the design of PICU in our country still needs to be perfected, clarifies the direction of its development, and establishes a harmonious relationship between space and users through good design techniques. So that the child intensive care unit in the future development has a higher quality.
