With the development of modern medicine, intensive care unit(ICU),which directly reflects the level of rescue and treatment,is the embodiment of hospital modernization and has become one of the key specialty. The construction of intensive care unit in our country started late, there is still room for the development of intensive care unit,so it is necessary to summarize the modern layout design requirements based on examples. The layout of intensive care unit(ICU)is a special nursing unit in general hospital, which is closely related to the grading system of hospital buildings and the requirement of sensory control isolation.Reviewing the relevant guidelines for the construction of intensive care units in China, through the combination of quantitative and qualitative methods for statistical analysis of the relevant design provisions, and compared with the relevant design guidelines abroad, this paper puts forward the design principles of functional connection and sensorycontrol isolation which are the main concerns of the design guidelines in our country, and puts forward the lower limit of the floor area index of the room, which is easy to adjust for the constraints of the layout design, and is conducive to the rapid construction of the intensive care unit. However, there are some deficiencies in guiding the construction of high-quality medical units.12 intensive care units(ICU)in 9 hospitals in Guangdong Province were selected to analyze the relationship between the layout and the area ratio by the method of quantitative and qualitative analysis, with the development of the design concept and the actual demand, the layout of ICU in China has experienced the transformation of singlecorridor,ring-corridor and double-corridor,more according to the actual demand configuration. Finally, the paper summarizes the previous research results, combined with the actual construction situation, summarizes the new layout design requirements, and proposes that the future ICU unit will continue to develop to humanistic design and flexible design.
