With the rapidly development of economy of our country and rapidly extendibility the scope of the cities,the public traffic system are rapidly developed.But in the information society,how to deliver all-sided and real-time public traffic informations to passengers ,so as to attract more citizens to stay away by bus,has been a desiderate-to-solve problem. The paper develops the distinctive system of public traffic information releasing based on WebGIS,after analysized the information requires of passenger and WebGIS technology.By the systematic analyses on the development trends,research status and the great application prospect of WebGIS in developed countries and China,the first chapter gives an expatiation on the background and meaning of using WebGIS to public traffic information service,the purposes and contents of the research.In the second chapter,firstly, analyze the characteristic ,the system framework,the design idea of WebGIS.After analyzing and comparing several representational flat of WebGIS in developed countries and China,the paper selects ArcIMS9.0 as the development flat of the system.Then,introduce detailedly the characteristic,system framework,system compose and the mostly softwares of ArcIMS9.0. Geodatabase data model is the up-to-the-minute spatial data model,the spatial database will be designed on the basis of Geodatabase data model.so research Geodatabase data model at the end of this chapter.The third chapter builds the overall design of the system,and design concretely the function module of the system,overall flow diagrams and data flow diagrams,after analysing on the characteristic and requirement study of the system.The fourth chapter deals with the database design,the core of the paper.A topology model of public traffic network is put forward ,which is the same with the needs of the system,after analysing on the characteristic of public traffic network.This is the innovation point.Then the logic configuration and physics configuration of database are designed in turn.The realization detailedly of the functions of the system is another key issue of the paper, which is discussed in the fifth chapter.Combined with the digital map of nanjing city and the data of public traffic network, the course of the functions of the system are put forward.Some demo pictures are given in this chapter.The last chapter finally concludes the main achievements of this thesis,and meanwhile,points out the future works to be completed.
