In the field of electrical machine, the electromagnetic design and drive control of permanent synchronous motor (PMSM) are foreland problems. In this dissertation, the systematic research of motor's parameters computation and performance has been done by the combination of electromagnetic calculation program and motor design software, and which is in the base of the fundamental electromagnetic theory. As major impact factor of motor performance , with focus on air-gap induction. A simple method has been advanced. At last, A motor design process has been compiled.Firstly,PMSM has a wide applicative territory. According to different working situation, the structure of the motor's magnetic circuit is various. In this dissertation, the magnetic structure of the motor is analyzed in details. Meanwhile, the features of frequency control are summarized, which is the main point of the future's electromagnetic design. The choice of the material of permanent magnet, which is a key to the design of motor, is researched in this dissertation. Furthermore, the motor's dimension and process of computing the motor's working feature are made out by using electromagnetic calculating program.In the base of analysis of permanent-magnet's mathematic model, the example is applied to design a surface mounted permanent-magnet and an interior permanent-magnet. then analyzing many factors which influence air-gap induction, including thickness of permanent-magnet, length of air gap,pole embrace, material of shaft. The major reason is analyzed as a focal point. Optimization design of air gap is another important program. in the base of analysis of finite element techniques, least-squares techniques and curve fitting method,by using software of Autocad Ansoft Mathcad, including a simple method of unequal thickness permanent-magnet.Finally, depending on the test of model machine, gains motor parameters and the data of controlling system, and proves the rationality of the designed motor system by theoretic analysis and experiments.
