Pedestrian Unsafe Behavior Based On Traffic Psychology

Pedestrian traffic is an important part of traffic system, pedestrian death rate is very high among traffic accidents. And pedestrian traffic unsafe behaviors of pedestrians are very important accident causation factor. So, it is necessary to specially study pedestrian traffic behaviors.Based on the psychology theory, pedestrian traffic behaviors are analysed and studied based on both domestic and international experience. Through traffic investigation and statistic analysis of the measuring data, the character of pedestrian traffic behaviors is expounded, the influence factor of pedestrian unafe behaviors and characteristics of pedestrian delay at uncontrolled crosswalk are systematically analyzed.In this dissereation, pedestrian traffic characteristics are introduced, the correlation between pedestrian cognizing psychology and behaviors is analysed, concept model of the process of pedestrian information processing is put forward. Simultaneously, traffic psychology and behavior character, as well as influence of group behavior on traffic safety are analysed.Furthermore, pedestrian unsafe traffic behaviors are analyzed in detail. Causes of pedestrian unsafe traffic behaviors are analyzed based on pedestrian unsafe psychology characteristic, causation factor and motivation. Motivation of pedestrian unsafe behavior is considered according to psychological need of pedestrian traffic. And the limitation of pedestrians'perception to danger is also an important contributing factor for pedestrian unsafe behavior.Uncontrolled crosswalk is a weak point within traffic system. Based on actual investigation, pedestrian crossing behavior and safety psychology at uncontrolled crosswalk are mainly analysed and studied. The character of pedestrian behaviors at uncontrolled crosswalk is summarized, and crossing speed is analysed. Pedestrian delay is analysed and studyed quantitatively by establishing delaying model. Furthermore, two uncontrolled crosswalks in Beijing are analysed as typical cases, model precision is validated, safety psychology distance of pedestrian getting across street is figured out.
