The intersection is the most complicated part of the urban road transportation system. There is a high risk of collision between pedestrians and vehicles at the intersection.Traffic conditions at signalized intersections are particularly complicated.Crossing the street illegally or without attention will not only threaten pedestrians themselves, but also affect the efficiency of urban traffic.Facing high traffic risks, pedestrians need to concentrate on street-crossing very much.Countdown pedestrian signals(CPS)are used at some intersections in order to alleviate the tension of pedestrians.Few scholars have associate the pedestrians' attitude to the CPS with their phenomena of street-crossing at present.Few scholars have considered the risk perception of pedestrians at the same time. Therefore,an unsafe street-crossing behavior intention model based on the theory of planned behavior(TPB)combines with pedestrian's evaluation of CPS and risk-aware.The structural equation model(SEM)was used to study the unsafe street-crossing behavior intention of pedestrians. Finally, management suggestions are proposed for relevant influencing factors. This thesis introduces “risk perception” and “evaluation of CPS” on the basis of TPB,according to the causes and influencing factors of pedestrian unsafe street-crossing behavior. The hypothesis is put forward for the correlation among various factors based on relevant theories from other fields. The intention model of unsafe street-crossing behavior at signalized intersection is established. The design principles of the questionnaire were expounded. The unsafe street-crossing behavior intention questionnaire is designed with pre-survey feedback and advice from teachers and classmates.251 valid questionnaires were collected from pedestrians in Chunxi Road area of Chengdu. The thesis carries out descriptive statistical analysis of the 251 questionnaires, and analyzes the reliability and validity of them. The results show that the questionnaire can be used for factor analysis. The thesis analyzes unsafe street behavior of pedestrian categorized based on gender, age, education level and driving experience, and obtains similarities and differences of different groups. Finally,AMOS 24,the SEM statistical software,is used to verify and correct the intention model, and the relationship between the relevant variables is constructed. The results show that behavioral attitude is the most influential variable on unsafe streetcrossing behavior intention, followed by risk perception and perceptual behavior control;the evaluation of CPS has a little influence on pedestrians' intention, indicating that CPS itself does not promote pedestrians to give up unsafe behavior intention, and the influence of subjective normative is zero. The evaluation of CPS has a significant positive impact on both risk perception and behavioral attitude. There are significant differences in behavioral attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behavioral controls, risk perceptions and behavioral intentions among pedestrians of different age and driving experience;while no significant differences are existed in all aspects among pedestrians of different gender and education level. There is no significant difference in evaluation of CPS among pedestrians of different gender, age, education level and driving experience.
