The manufacturing of Car-body in white is a very complicated process and there are numerous parts, welding fixtures, equipments involved in, the process conceptions are also complicated. Car-body in white product line process planning is a important part of which determines the assembly vehicle manufacturing period. Nowadays, process layout and planning still depend on the experiences of technicians, and the planning concepts and methods fall comparatively behind, in order to change the condition, well-developed software technology can be used to develop the KBS for BIW process and product line planning. Based on this system, planning can be conveniently carried out by planners in the digital environment, makes the period of the planning short.This dissertation mainly researches on the designing and developing of KBS for BIW process and product line planning.Firstly, the features of BIW product line are analyzed in the research of this dissertation, combined with the development of knowledge base and knowledge management system, the research content and aimed functions of KBS for BIW process and product line planning are pointed out, and based on the logic of the work flow of this system, the whole framework of this system is divided into C/S three-tier logical structure. Secondly, on the base of the the research above, the developing process of information system structure is analyzed, the advantages and disadvantages of different kinds of system structures and the scopes of their applications are compared, combined with the distributed multi-tier model and distributed database technology, the three-tier C/S architecture model of KBS for BIW process and product line planning is established. According to the functional desires and the divided modules of this system, Delphi+MTS is chosen to be the developing tools, and the arrangement of the system is established, thus makes the designing and developing of the C/S architecture of this system come true, and the solution to the security and stability is also well established. The significance of this dissertation is the construction of the framework of KBS for BIW process and product line planning, which makes solid foundation for the application and optimization of the functions of the whole system.
