Container transportation is the key means for modern logistic. The main goals of this paper are how to make best use of every resource in harbor and how to effectively apply of information technology into the container terminal. On the basis of investigating the current situation around the world and the influencing factors on the efficiency of shipment, an optimal model for stowage is established to improve the working performance of quay crane. The key points include:(1) Research on the layout of container yard. A major factor of reducing the efficiency is that quay cranes often pend for inner tracks sending containers during production. however, the tracks can not transport containers to quay cranes in time for awaiting a RTG (Rubber Tyred Gantry). The truck delivering efficiency actually reflects the stacking performance potentially. Therefore, stacking improvement becomes one of the approaches to improve the efficiency of loading and unloading. Containers'piling up rationality in yard is the basis of stacking efficiency. In order to improve loading efficiency, it demands container stacking in regulation in advance. The paper studies from two points of view to solve bottleneck in yard, one is area partition, the other is turning box at the minimum step.
