Energy efficiency is becoming a big problem concerning sustainable development of human being and zoology environment. Its tactic aims are not only saving limited energy, but also amending environment polluted by energy consummation. In this way, the world in which human being survived will get much cleaner and more comfortable. In recent years, more and more attention is paid to energy efficiency of building, which is the main content of energy efficiency. Under the direction of the aim of building a well-off society in an all-round way, our economy gains a very rapid development. At the same time, the ratio of urbanization and standard of living of people are improved. Thus, the construction industry develops rapidly and the scope of building becomes very huge. But the ratio of new and existed residual buildings which can meet the design criterion of energy efficiency of building is no more than 1%, and in the existed residual buildings, there are about 210 billion square meters of building which have the problems of bad heating preservation and heating insulation, little air-tight capability and lower efficiency of heating system. So energy efficiency of building has become an important tactic problem of our country.Locating at lower reaches of the Changjiang River, Shanghai belongs to hot summer and cold winter zone. Till now, the heating preservation and insulation capability of building envelop has not been improved. So the quality of in-door heat environment is very bad. In the next decades, building energy consummation will increase very fast in Shanghai, which is based on two fundamental factors of population amount and building area, and also because that urban development of Shanghai is just on the stage of improving of overall functions and upgrading of citizen consuming structure. The contradiction between economy development and energy efficiency is thus produced. So, energy efficiency becomes a necessary of Shanghai.Based on the analysis of building energy consummation of our country as wellas Shanghai district, and combined with the research of related theory of building energy efficiency and existing policies, codes and standards, basic conceptions and design requirements are expatiated in this dissertation. The techniques of energy efficiency and heat preservation are illuminated in details which enclose the structures of external walls, roofs, windows and doors of external thermal insulations and internal insulations, focusing on the requirements of residual buildings of Shanghai region.hi the field of practice, from the angel of design, materials, construction and evaluation, the ways of solving existed contradiction is found out, combining with the analysis of three kinds of external thermal insulation systems in Shanghai region and the practical effect of Gubei 2nd Qiangsheng Garden.The significance of techniques and practice of energy efficiency and heating preservation of residual building's insulation structure in Shanghai region contains at least the following aspects: ? to accommodate the development of economy of our country; (2) to improve "heat environment" of hot summer and cold winter region;? to improve air environment.
