Nowadays, the railway passenger station is not only the gateway of the city, but also the integrated flat for interchanging of all transportations. So the scale and complexity of these hubs make navigation much difficult even for the experienced travellers. This study asked how railway passenger stations could make people easier to interchange and navigate without an over-reliance on signs. We had chosen Shanghai south railway station as the field survey object. By tracing and recording participants' navigation process, we investigated the importance of different environment elements when navigating in hubs. We analyzed the features of orientation, strategies, decision points, movements. And also we discussed the elements of interchange estimate system. This study tried to provide valuable suggestions for the navigation design of railway passenger stations.
