Nowadays, Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) is a new research topic in the traffic field and acknowledged as the optimal approach to deal with many issues, including solving problem of transportation crowd, increasing the transportation security, enhancing the transportation efficiency, and abating the air pollution etc. The Dynamic Route Guidance System (DRGS), as an important component of Intelligent Transportation System, is crucial to ameliorate the transportation crowd today.Aiming at the problems of Dynamic Route Guidance System of nowadays, my thesis has studied and discussed the pivotal problems of Dynamic Route Guidance System based on ArcGIS, with the advanced technologies such as Web Services, ArcGIS components, .NET framework etc. Finally, it has realized DRGS. The main contents of my thesis are summarized as follows:1. The overall project and framework of DRGS based on ArcGIS software and .NET framework is designed. Meanwhile, its methods and technologies are analyzed and studied.2. As the road weights is difficult to be forecasted In DRGS, we can use the feedback information from users (such as location, velocity, direction etc.) to dope out the transportation status of the road (such as average speed and average time etc.). By using the theories of statistics, the least feeding back vehicle counts can be estimated when it meets the conditions of precision of prediction.3. Considering the characteristics of urban traffic network, the new traffic network model is designed to describe urban traffic confine rule (such as prohibiting running straightly, prohibiting turning left, prohibiting turning around etc.) on the basis of the network configuration of ArcGIS. Using the new model, the traditional Dijkstra algorithm is improved and the problem of optimal route guidance is solved on the conditions of urban traffic confine rule. The algorithm is realized at the same time.4. According to the overall design of simulative system, the mostly simulative functions of system are realized by using the ArcGIS components, and VB.NET. Besides, the feasibilities of system project and optimal route algorithm are also validated.
