With the development of society and the progress of the technology, the production mode of industry has run to the flexible manufacturing mode. The plant facility layout design is one of the most important research aspects of flexible manufacturing mode. The plant facility layout design problem for the reconfigurable production mode based on the theory of agile manufacturing is studied in the article. In the first, a mathematic model of plant facility layout is built and be solved by inspired algorithm. Then virtual reality technology is applied to simulate the problem. The material working of this article is as follows:1. A mathematic model is built and solved. All of the requests, conditions and optimized goal of plant facility layout design are analyzed, and a mathematic model is built. Then an appropriate solution algorithm is selected according to the characteristics of mathematic model. The improved genetic algorithm is applied to solve the plant layout design problem according to its characteristics.2. The genetic algorithm is studied and improved. As one of bionic and heuristic algorithm, genetic algorithm is widely used in all kinds of layout problems. The flexible plant facility layout design is a special kind of layout design problem, which raised higher requirements to the algorithm. The float code strategy GA is selected in the article and its' parameters are also studied, so as to find out the influence of each parameter to the computing convergence process.3. The simulation study of the layout design convergent procession and the result. The virtual reality technology base on OpenGL is applied to the simulation of layout convergent procession and the layout result, which made the layout engineer could watch the convergent procession, wandering in the virtual scene, experience the layout design.4. The human-computer interactive problem is studied. Plant facility layout design is one kind of NP hard problems, so the optimized result can not be got purely through algorithms. Human-computer interactive is applied to adjust the result that finds out by the genetic algorithm, which made the layout design result more feasible and reliable.5. Algorithm experiments of a layout design example are studied. Others two kinds of algorithms are selected to solve the plant facility layout design problem, so as to contest with the improved algorithm that used in the article. In the end, the characteristic of these algorithms are concluded.Finally, the summing-up of the article is made up, the expectation of future study of this research is listed and the problems of this research that need to be studied deeply are also listed.
